WhatsApp update brings a new Settings page for Android

Here’s some more tweaking from WhatsApp, and this time around it is a new revamped Settings page. The update that will be made available as version 2.12.506, is not officially rolled out yet. However, you can go ahead and download an apk from the official site, points out AndroidPolice.

Besides, Google lets you get the new version on becoming a part of the Google Play beta programme. So, the revamped Settings page brings some changes to the sequence of the options. For example, the profile option is moved right to the top and you will also see the profile photo in a round frame. Earlier Help  was on top, followed by Profile.

The list now includes the Data Usage option allowing users to control the type of files the app can download over Wi-Fi, mobile data, or even when on roaming. Chats and calls has been changed to only ‘Chats’ and now comes under Data usage. The payment option is gone away completely. Needless to say, WhatsApp is now free for all, making the option redundant.

It was just recently that WhatsApp introduced a big update, allowing users to share documents. Users who update to version 2.12.453 for Android and 2.12.14 on iOS will see the sharing option. For now however, there is this one tiny issue. The receiver (your friend) should also have the updated version installed in order to receive the said document on their device. The popular messaging app had also announced to include end-to-end encryption.
